Steve Long is the Director of Government Relations at The Nature Conservancy and teaches Environmental Policy at Tufts University. He co-leads the Massachusetts Climate Change Adaptation Coalition which is comprised of over 50 organizations representing conservation, planners, engineers, architects, developers and more. The Coalition successfully advocated for a $2.4 billion climate change bond bill and the creation of the State Hazard Mitigation and Climate Change Adaptation Plan and the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) program. The Plan and MVP have provided the science and resources for state agencies and communities to complete vulnerability assessments and develop action-oriented resiliency plans. The Nature Conservancy focuses on using nature-based solutions to enhance safety, avoid community costs, and conserve nature. Mr. Long received a B.A. in Political Science from Ithaca College and a Masters in Political Science from Rutgers University.

For Hā o ke kai, Mr. Long will address how funding from the state helps local governments complete vulnerability assessments and develop action-oriented resiliency plans.
